Lincolnshire Police have launched a murder investigation after a body was discovered at a house in Gainsborough.
The body of a 24-year-old was found at a house in Etherington Street at 10.48am on Friday 17th January.
Following a detailed examination of the house and other enquiries Lincolnshire Police are treating the investigation as a murder enquiry.
At some point prior to the discovery the property in Etherington Street had been on fire but the fire was out when the body was found.
The man has been named as Ivans Zdanovics and following a post mortem early indications are that he died as a result of smoke inhalation but police are awaiting the results of toxicology tests.
Det Supt, Stuart Morrison, of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit is leading the investigation, and he said: “I am keen you build up a picture of the lifestyle and movements of Mr Zdanovics.”
“We are particularly interested in the period between 7pm last Thursday evening and 11am the following morning.”
“I would ask anyone with any information about Mr Zdanovics, or his movements in that period, to contact me via the non emergency 101 number.”
“Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
