Former West Stockwith pub landlady, and oldest resident, dies

The oldest resident of West Stockwith has died.

Betty Mays, 91, was best known as the landlady of the village’s White Hart Inn.

She ran the pub with her husband Frank from 1957 until his death at the age of just 55 in 1980 and it became one of the most popular in the area.

Her funeral will be held at St Mary the Virgin’s Church, West Stockwith on Friday, February 13 at 10.30am followed by committal at Woodlands Crematorium, Scunthorpe.
