MUSIC-LOVERS around Kirton in Lindsey and Gainsborough are in for a treat, as a top folk trio are heading to the area next month.
Award-winning Canadians The Once will heading this way in support of their critically-acclaimed new album Row Upon Row of the People They Know.
Named for a unique Newfoundland phrase that means ‘imminently’, now could indeed be the time for The Once.
From their beginnings as three actors who also loved to sing together, The Once are renowned for embracing a different vision of Newfoundland music.
Canadian music magazine Exclaim said this of the band: “Whether they keep it a cappella or pile on layers of accordion, bouzouki, mandolin and guitar, each track is a treat.”
They added: “Geraldine Hollett’s strong, clear voice and the rich vocal harmonies of bandmates Phil Churchill and Andrew Dale brim with passion and warmth. It’s time for the rest of the country to listen up.”
The Once will be at Kirton in Lindsey Town Hall on Friday 25th January. Tickets are £8 in advance or £10 on the door. To book, call 01652 649230 or visit www.kirtoninlindseytownhall.co.uk/whatson
