THE DEDICATION and bravery of two Gainsborough firemen has been rewarded after being recognised in this year’s Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Long Service Awards.

Andy Higgins and Michael Turver both received awards.

Watch Manager Andy, or ‘Wiggy’ to his colleagues, joined the service at Gainsborough in 1989 and now lives in the town with wife and son.

In 1997, Andy spent a year as crew manager in Skegness but has been Watch Manager at Gainsborough since 2001.

Crew Manager Michael joined the service ing Gainsborough in 1990 and still lives here with his wife and two children.

Lincs Chief Fire Officer Dave Ramscar said: “Experienced firefighters are valued assets and I would thank each of this year’s recipients for their contribution to Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue.”
