Parish Church Primary School is celebrating another huge sporting achievement after their 8 a side football squad won the Gainsborough and District Large Schools Football League.

The league has seen the Parish team play and win all their six matches, with home and away victories against Scotter, Morton and Whites Wood Lane.

A school spokesman said: “Having conceded only fourgoals all season and scoring over 30 goals, they have been the champions elect from the word go! With a large squad of boys and girls they have all played their part in returning the trophy to school for the first time in over 10 years.”

Working in partnership with Midtown football club and Gainsborough Town Council they have used the mini-soccer pitch at Levellings.

Captain Evan Butcher was beaming with pride as local footballing hero and Gainsborough Trinity manager Steve Housham presented him with the league trophy.

“ We have played really well this season and Mr Anderson has made sure we have trained properly and worked together as a team,” he said.

Steve Housham added: “Any team who wins all their games in the league is to be admired and who knows, in a few years some of the players might be pushing for a game on the Northolme!”

Team manager Mr Anderson was delighted for the children: “The children have worked so hard this season to improve their skills and it has paid off with the title.”
