The strike is taking place over a 48-hour period at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and began at 8am this morning, and will finish at 8am on Friday, April 8.

A spokesman said: “The hospital has contacted all patients whose appointments will be affected by the strike.

“If you have an appointment and have not been contacted please attend as usual.

“People in need of urgent and emergency care will continue to receive the treatment they need and, as always, patient safety and quality care remains a top priority.”

This is the fourth walkout in a long-running contract dispute over a Government move to impose changes to pay and conditions from the summer.
