A GENEROUS donation was made by the local Freemasons to the Gainsborough branch of Home-Start.

The Worshipful Master of the Gainsborough Freemasons Michael Drury presented a cheque for £1,000 to Mandy Snee from Home-Start.

Chris Oates from the Freemasons said that they were proud to support such a worthwhile cause.

“Home Start visit families in their homes to support parents in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability or simply those finding parenting a struggle,” he said.

“They provide non-judgmental practical and emotional support and we’re happy to be able to donate this money to them.”

Home-Start is always on the look-out for volunteers.

A Home-start spokesman said: “We recruit and train volunteers to help families with young children.”

“Our volunteers, who know about being a parent, support other parents by visiting them in their own homes for a couple of hours each week. We also run special family groups and hold social events for families.”

Home-Start are based at 18 Market Street, Gainsborough.
