A WORKSOP man who was refused service in a town bar has been ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work.

Tom Mullen, 20, from Hardwick Road East, went into the Cornerhouse on Bridge Place on the evening of 26th January.

Catherine Picardo, prosecuting, said he picked up a chair above his head after being refused drinks.

He admitted to using insulting words and behaviour but denied he threatened to stab the barman in the neck with a knife and fork.

David Grant, defending, said: “He cannot explain his stupidity.”

Mullen was sentenced to a 12-month community order with 100 hours unpaid work.
