EXPERTS have safely removed a potential bomb from a road in Gainsborough after a ‘suspicious package’ was reported.

Yesterday (Wednesday 25th May) at around 11.45am a member of the public reported a suspicious package found on the side of Walkerith Road in Gainsborough.

Police attended the scene, secured the road and closed it off .

The package was safely removed by specialists by midnight and the road was reopened.

What was inside the package is currently unknown as investigations continue.

“This was a standard response and the package is currently being forensically examined,” said Lincolnshire Police spokesman James Newall.

He added: “It will be at least a week before the results are back. An update will be released at that point.

“We would ask for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or who has any information to please come forward.”
