POLICE recovered a stash of stolen goods during two raids in three days on the home of a Sturgate man, Lincoln Crown Court was told.

Jonathon Dee, prosecuting, said that officers, acting on a tip-off, went to the home of Anton Stepniewski in October last year and searched the yard and outbuildings.

During the searches they found a large amount of stolen goods and were able to link quite a lot of these goods to various burglaries that had taken place in the preceding month or so.

A Ford Fiesta car taken in a raid in Lincoln was found parked on the premises, and a motorcycle trailer, pressure washer, Honda motorcycle and stolen power tools were also found. A Vauxhall Vectra stolen from Morton near Gainsborough that had already been dismantled with a trailer were also recovered.

Stepniewski claimed to have bought some of the items at Hemswell Market and others from Tickhill.

Stepniewski, 23, of The Hammers, Sturgate, near Gainsborough, pleaded guilty to eight charges of handling stolen goods on dates in October 2011. He was given a 12 month jail sentence suspended for two years with 12 months supervision, a 36 hour attendance centre order and a three month night-time curfew.
