Rotherham: Man appears in court over machete attack

A 27-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Parvaiz Hussain Iqbal.

Emergency services were called to a shop in Grosvenor Road, Eastwood, shortly after 2pm on Tuesday (15 October) where the body of 40-year-old Mr Iqbal, from Rotherham, was found.

A second man, a 40-year-old from Sheffield, was also found seriously injured at the scene. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Naeem Mehmood, of Herringthorpe Valley Road, in Rotherham, has been charged with murder and attempted murder.

He appeared at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court this morning (Friday 18 October) where he was remanded in custody. He is next due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday 1 November 2013.
