Road ban for scooter drink driver

A CRESWELL man who recently landed his first full-time job has been banned from driving.

Police saw a scooter travelling at speed along Elmton Road in the village at 1.45am on 3rd November, Chesterfield magistrates head.

It was followed to Queen Street and then Baker Street. Rider James Hall, 22, of Sheffield Road, pulled over and police smelled drink on his breath.

He failed a roadside test and later gave a reading of 66mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath - almost double the limit. He admitted drink-driving.

Hall said he had ‘no idea’ he was over the limit and said his bike was restricted to 30mph. He was banned from driving for 16 months and fined £165, with £85 costs.
