Jail for local teen after burglaries

A GAINSBOROUGH teen burglar who targeted the quiet village of Torksey has been jailed for 18 months at Lincoln Crown Court.

Aiden McGhie was among a gang who hit Torksey earlier this year carrying out five raids in a single night when an Audi car was taken and driven away after a house on Main Road was broken into.

Soon afterwards a second house was burgled with the intruders taking a number of items including a set of car keys. They fled after the victims woke up and disturbed them.

Later the offices at Little London Caravan Park were also broken into along with two other properties.

McGhie was linked to the raids from forensic evidence.

Mr Lody, prosecuting, said: “This defendant was one of a number of burglars who decided to prey on the sleepy village of Torksey.” “

“It is a quiet village where crime is practically unknown.”

McGhie,19, of Warren Close, Gainsborough, admitted three charges of burglary and asked for a further two similar matters to be taken into consideration.

Recorder Gareth Evans QC said: “You knew perfectly well when you went plundering people’s homes that if you were caught you would go to prison.”
