Police are warning people to be on their guard after a possible bogus caller visited a home in Hemswell Cliff.

The man went to the house at 2pm yesterday (Thursday) and told the owner he was from Anglian Water and asked to see the water meter.

He had no identification and was refused entry.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “The male was in a white, unmarked transit van and is described as being in his mid 20s, around 5’6’’ tall with dark hair.”

“He was not wearing a uniform.”

“Please remember, do not open your door to strangers, ask for ID and verify it by calling the company if necessary.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Lincolnshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 379 of 7th November.
