A former Gainsborough man who admitted having indecent images of children on his computers was today (Friday) jailed for two years.

Keith Gee, 57, was disqualified from working with children for life after he pleaded guilty to possessing 299 indecent images.

Lincoln Crown Court heard Gee’s computer equipment was seized by police after it was discovered he had been making covert recordings on a video camera.

The court was told 259 images were found on a lap top computer after police searched the home where Gee was living in Gainsborough.

A further 40 images were discovered on a Dell Computer used by Gee, who had no previous convictions.

Robert Underwood, prosecuting, said the images ranged in seriousness from 246 at the lowest level of one to a single image at the highest level of five.

Gee, now of Robey Street, Lincoln, pleaded guilty to two charges of taking indecent photos of children, four charges of making indecent photos of children and possessing the 299 images.

He also pleaded guilty to an offence of possessing an extreme pornographic image found on a disc. The offences took place between July 2012 and March, this year.

The court heard Gee was employed by a restaurant chain for 19 years but became depressed and gave up work due to stress.

Gillian Batts, defending, said the gravity of what he had done was understood by Gee.

“Not a minute goes by when he does not think about what he has done,” she said.

“In his interview with the police he denied the offences and put forward excuses and explanations that would never stand up to scrutiny.

“But when he came to court he pleaded guilty to all the offences.”

Passing sentence Recorder Mark Wall QC told Gee: “You will be on the Sex Offenders Register for the next ten years.

“I am also going to make a Sexual Offences Prevention Order against you because I think it is necessary to protect the public.”
