A CRESWELL man is to have domestic violence counselling following a bust-up with his wife.

Ian Hart began calling his wife names after refusing to eat his dinner - she then threw a cardboard box at him.

Hart, 43, of Skinner Street, told police they had assaulted each other and showed officers a scratch to his neck where she had allegedly grabbed him. The court heard that he had been granted bail not to contact his wife following a previous hearing but he went to her address. Hart admitted assaulting her on 17th March.

Judge Andrew Davison imposed 80 hours unpaid work and a two year supervision order, domestic abuse programme, and £85 costs.
