Have your say

The Standard has teamed up with the Gainsborough Riverside Festival once again to give your little ones the chance to be King and Queen of the event.

This year’s theme is ‘Gainsborough Goes Norse’ to celebrate 1,000 years since Sweyn Forkbeard was based here and made the town temporary capital of England, so the King and Queen will actually have the Danish titles of ‘Konungr’ and ‘Dróttning’. The winners will not only win a batch of goodies but they’ll also have the honour of dressing up and leading the traditional parade.

Town council events manager Gary Cooke said this year’s annual event would be a memorable one - and they’re also on the look-out for sponsorship. “Once again we are appealing to local businesses to help us put on an action-packed, fun-filled day that has been bringing the community together for many years,” he said.

“Any business able to support us in any way, great or small, will get a listing in the programme, on our website, posters and all other publicity - plus you can have a promotional banner up at the festival.”

For information call 01427 811573. To enter our competition just tell us why you want to be king and queen and what you love about Gainsborough.
