POPULAR local farm shop and butchers Uncle Henry’s are celebrating after scooping yet another prize for their award-winning sausages.

Butchers at Uncle Henry’s Farm Shop have won four Gold Awards in this year’s Lincolnshire Poacher competition at the Lincolnshire showground.

The Lincolnshire Poacher competition is one of the premier regional food events for butchers and bakers in Britain – promoting individual entrants as well as emphasising the status of the county as the country’s most important food-producing area.

All products at the Lincolnshire Poacher competition are evaluated by a team of industry experts and points are given for a range of attributes, among them are appearance, consistency, texture, taste and smell – and Uncle Henry’s scored top marks.

Husband and wife Barry and Louise Jarvis entered the Lincolnshire Poacher competition with their local home-reared sausages. Despite a record number of entries in the competition, Uncle Henry’s claimed four gold awards for their sausages and one gold award for their bacon.

The first of the sausages to claim gold was Uncle Henry’s Lincolnshire sausage.

Louise said: “It’s the passion that goes into our Lincolnshire sausage that separates it from the competition.”

Another gold winner was their innovative ‘Hudas Argy Bargy’ sausage devised with local supplier Mr Hudas, who creates Indian pastes.

Their caramelised onion sausage was the third to make gold.

“This family favourite is always popular with all of Uncle Henry’s customers,” said Louise.

“The final sausage to meet the gold award standard was the chicken and cranberry chutney sausage. This low fat sausage has a distinct taste of cranberry giving it a sweet flavour.”

Louise added: “The team at Uncle Henry’s are no strangers to winning gold for their home produced meats, but usually the accolades are collected on home turf.”

“Once again, we are highly delighted to be credited with more gold awards to join our growing collection. It is always nice to be honoured with an award for something you enjoy doing”.
