KIND-SPIRITED folk from in and around Gainsborough came out in force to put on a range of fundraising activities for Children In Need.

Thousands of pounds were raised by schools, businesses and individuals from across the area.

Kids from Benjamin Adlard Community School did their bit, as did pupils from Whites Wood Lane Junior School - and students from Frances Olive Anderson School even spent the day in their pyjamas.

World-renowned fancy dress business Smiffy’s went all out to raise well over £1,000 by putting on a day of fun and games.

“We had a competition for every department to dress up and decorate their area and play games to go with their theme,” said official merchandiser Melanie Clerehugh.

“Our marketting department had a jungle theme so they were all dressed up as animals and were doing bushtucker trials and all-sorts.”

She continued: “We also had chest-waxing, hair-shaving, bake sales and all-sorts.”

Melanie added: “I’d just like to thank everybody for getting so involved and making it a great day.”
