A joint concert staged by The South Axholme Academy, Epworth, and The Axholme Academy, Crowle, has raised over £650 for sick youngsters.

The two academies entertained a large audience at Epworth on April 2, with 160 students involved.

The event was supported by the Isle of Axholme Lions’ Club, who supplied seven giant Easter eggs which were raffled to raise funds for the Children’s Renal and Urology Unit at Nottingham Children’s Hospital. More than £650 was raised from the raffle, ticket sales and other sources.

The charity was selected after a staff member’s son was treated there as a baby.

Students performed a wide range of music, song, dance and drama.

Lion President Peter Lindley said: “The energy, enthusiasm, commitment and talent displayed by the students taking part was outstanding and a real pleasure to see.”
