Before the meeting began chairman, Clive Thompson paid tribute to Mike Jones, a former member, and well-respected member of the community.

He then introduced Peter Robinson who gave a detailed and interesting talk on Lincolnshire Engineering Industries during World War Two.

The evening concluded with a raffle and refreshments.

The speaker at the next meeting on Wednesday, June 15, will be the society’s president, Linda Crust who will tell members about some Lincolnshire Poets including two from Sturton.

The annual open day will be held in Sturton village hall on Saturday, July 23, 10am to 4pm, when the theme will be Lincolnshire Produce and Crafts including home brew beer, honey, cakes, pork pies, bread and herbs and crafts including bags, paintings, pyrography and vintage fabrics.

The summer outing on Wednesday, August 17, will be to Woodhall Spa and Tattershall Thorpe Camp.
