COMMUNITY: Morton Feast

This will be held over the weekend July 8 to 10.

There will be the five kilometre fun run on the Friday night, children’s football tournament and tug o’ war on the Saturday morning, along with the summer fair, with the usual stalls and fun and games.

To round off the day the Ship Inn will host a barbecue on the Saturday evening.

St Paul’s Church will be holding a village service on the Sunday morning, followed by cricket on the field for children and adults.

The feast weekend of festivities is a collaboration between the community, school and church. There is something for everyone so we hope to see you sometime over the weekend.

This year there is a scarecrow competition added to the feast entertainment. This is open to all residents of Morton village and Morton parish, and there will be prizes for children and adults.

Scarecrows can be any shape or size. They are to be displayed for all to see in the front garden by the end of June, and kept in place until Sunday, July 17. They will be judged during the week leading up to Morton Feast Saturday, and prizes will be awarded at the end of the morning’s festivities.

All scarecrows must be given a number and registered so that we know where they all are.

The list of the locations of all the scarecrows will be available for anyone who would like to walk around Morton and see everyone’s efforts, and to see the winning scarecrows.

Call at 1 Southlands Drive for your number, or ring 613998.
