Shoppers were brought to a standstill on Saturday as dancers descended on Worksop town centre.

Dozens of dancers took part in a flash mob style event to raise money for Comic Relief.

A host of ‘cheesy’ hits were played from Gangnam Style to So Long Farewell to Time Warp.

Organised by Bassetlaw Events, the dance extravaganza saw various dance and fitness groups from around Worksop take part - and passing shoppers were encouraged to have a boogie too.

David Graham, of Bassetlaw Events, said: “At one point there was about 40 people taking part and then at another there were about 80. That wasn’t bad considering the bad weather.”

“The youngest taking part was about two-years-old. There were a couple of people in wheelchairs taking part and even some grandfathers were dancing with their grandchildren.”

“We had some people that came down just for the event and then there were some shoppers who we coaxed into taking part. It’s hard not to join in when the conga was passing! The idea was for us to have cheesy music so that everyone could take part and have some fun.” The event raised £118.10 for Comic Relief through donations.
