Clowne, Barlborough and Whitwell: Pubs on alert following spate of burglaries

Police are appealing for information after a number of burglaries at pubs in Clowne, Barlborough and Whitwell.

They are also asking licensees, staff and residents to look out for any suspicious people or activity around local premises.

The most recent incident happened sometime overnight between Wednesday, 11th June and Thursday, 12th June at the Nags Head on North Road in Clowne when cash was stolen.

A television, cash and alcohol was taken during a break-in at the Holmefield Arms on Station Road in Whitwell, sometime between 1.30am and 2.30am on Tuesday, 3rd June.

And a member of staff at the Apollo Inn on High Street, in Barlborough, disturbed a man attempting to steal cash from the till at around 10.45am on Sunday, 1st June.

The man was described as being white, aged in his 20s, slim with ginger coloured hair and was wearing a black coat.

Temporary sergeant Dan Saunby said: “We are currently investigating these incidents, and I would encourage anyone with any information to contact us.

“I would also urge licensees and staff to make sure that they secure their premises whenever they are closed and to report any suspicious activity or people in the local area to police.”
