A Misterton resident was presented with a special balloon to acknowledge his 100th blood donation.

John Hunt, 73, only started giving blood at the age of 30 and has already reached the impressive milestone.

John, who attends sessions in Gainsborough, has only missed three blood donor sessions.

He is awaiting his official reward from NHS Blood and Transplant Service, who usually hold a special ceremony to award people with commemorative medals and certificate.

Tina Garner, 23, of Gainsborough, was so inspired by the achievement that she arranged for Card Factory in Marshall’s Yard to donate a special balloon to him.

She said: “John is an inspiration and I would love to reach and supersede this target.”
