THE AMERICAN backer who part-financed the acquisition of Gainsborough estate agency Drewery & Wheeldon flew 5,000 miles to present a £1,000 cheque from the company to Bassetlaw Hospice.
The hospice is the estate agent’s chosen charity for the year and they are giving a donation for every sale completed at their Retford and Bawtry offices to the hospice.
Drewery & Wheeldon’s American backer J. Ward McConnell Jnr visited the Retford office to present the cheque.
“It was a nice job to come here to do a good deed for the hospice,” he said.
Mr McConnell’s NASDAQ-quoted USA business Art’s-Way produces agricultural equipment in Armstrong, Iowa.
“I was up in this area a lot around Gainsborough, when the Marshall tractor company was there. I bought some of that concern and dealt with the receiver. It was about 26 years ago,” he said
