Captain’s Column: Too many bank holidays

IF YOU ask me one of the reasons we’ve found ourselves back in a recession is because we spend too much time sitting and not enough time doing.

This Monday ‘May Day’ is a classic example.

Do we really need yet another bank holiday? We’ve got two more coming up with the Jubilee too. If everyone in the country just went to work instead perhaps we could collectively clear some debt.

Instead bank holiday revellers are more likely be dancing around a May Pole in the rain. It’s a waste of time and shows a total lack of common sense. And don’t get me started how many holidays teachers get.
