I WAS pleased to hear that south west ward will be getting a cash injection of nearly £600,000 in a bid to fill some of the 225 homes that are currently stood empty.
It seems I can not walk down one street in Gainsborough without seeing houses boarded up with those ugly metal shutters.
These homes are a magnet for anti-social behaviour, another problem that plagues Gainsborough.
What I cannot understand is why there are plans afoot to double our town in size with cheap new builds when there are so many properties that just need renovation?
Surely we should be getting these homes up to standard and filled with happy families before we build any more?
