Worksop jobs under threat as Comet faces administration

Comet in Worksop is closed this morning (Friday) after the chain announced it would be put into administration next week.

A notice on the doors of the store, on Babbage Way, said it it would open to customers at 1pm this afternoon.

Placing the electricals chain into administration will put around 6,500 jobs under threat nationally and marks one of the biggest high street casualties in recent years.

Comet said it was ‘urgently working’ on plans to secure the company’s future. Customers with outstanding orders are being told it is ‘business as usual until further notice’ and that the group intends to fulfil deliveries of products that have been paid for.
