FURTHER questions have been raised around the development of a hotel on the site of Whitton’s Gardens in Gainsborough.
West Lindsey District Council is currently planning a 50 room hotel fot the site as part of an ambitious redevelopment of the Elswitha Quarter.
The Standard was made aware that the deeds of Whitton’s Gardens’ real covenant state certain rules regarding the sale of alcohol.
We put it to West Lindsey District Council (WLDC) to find out whether any subsequent hotel development would adhere to this rule.
A WLDC spokesperson aid: “The council is aware that small sections of the Whitton’s Gardens site are subject to covenants relating to the sale of alcohol.”
“These are not expected to impact on the future development of the site for the purposes of a hotel.”
Last week, we reported that development of the Elswitha Quarter was on hold as the council’s decisions were being held subject to a judicial review.
