HUNDREDS of people queued up to see if their antiques and collectables were worth hundreds of pounds on Saturday.

TV crews descended on West Lindsey Leisure Centre in Gainsborough to shoot scenes for the next series of ITV1 show Dickinson’s Real Deal.

And David ‘The Duke’ Dickinson was undoubtedly one of the main attractions.

Resplendent in his trademark dapper suit, he dished out valuable advice to members of the public who were selling their wares.

The popular show, which airs between 3pm and 4pm on weekdays, sees a team of antiques dealers offer cash for people’s items.

The alternative, if the dealer’s price isn’t right, is to try your luck at auction.

“We had a really successful day in Gainsborough, with over 350 members of the public turning up with their antiques and collectables,” said a spokesman for the show.

“The quality of items was fantastic, backed up with lots of history and fantastic stories to match.”

Dealers on the day were Michael Hogben, David Hakeney, Jan Keyne and Cheryl Hakeney.

The spokesman continued: “We had a very rare Royal Doulton Toby Jug brought in that was estimated to be worth around £1,200 – that caused a lot of excitement.”

“And a fabulous collection of signed rock and roll memorabilia estimated at around £550 which got a similar reaction. All in all, it was a really great day.”

The programme filmed in Gainsborough will feature in series eight of Dickinson’s Real Deal, due on our screens in the next six to eight months.
