Cash boost for two young entrepreneurs

Gainsborough news

TWO TALENTED young entrepreneurs from Gainsborough have received cash a boost to their business venture from the Prince’s Trust.

Fully-qualified electrician Michael Stewart, 21, launched his own electrical contracting business - Mike Stewart Electrical - back in July after he was made redundant by a former employer due to the downturn in construction.

Now, he has received a £1,000 loan and £1,000 grant.

“I’ve aspired to run my own business for quite some time and want to feel in control of my future,” he said. “I’m willing to put in the hours to make this business work and to be successful. I know it’s not an easy thing to do but I feel without taking risks, there are no rewards.”

The other local business brain is 25-year-old Michael Mason who launched his building businesses - MJM Builders - in July after successfully completing carpentry, joinery and bricklaying courses at Gainsborough College. He received a £1,000 loan and £1,000 from the Prince’s Trust. His business is centred on home and garden improvements.

“I feel I have the right skills and knowledge to run my own business and feel very prepared to work hard to achieve my goal,” said Michael.

Andrew Sissons of The Prince’s Trust added: “Trading conditions in the general construction industry and home improvement sector may still be tough right now, but both these clients have the qualifications and determination that are needed together with initial work in the pipeline already.”
