At the parish council meeting on Monday 27th January, it was said grants applied for will be discussed at the February meeting and groups informed of the outcome the following week. Should any other group not already applied wish to do so then please apply in writing to the clerk at 38 Garfield Street, Gainsborough, Lincs, DN21 2LA, or send to firstname.lastname@example.org, with relevant balance sheets. Applications need to be in before the February meeting which is on Monday 24th February. This is the final date and no further applications will be considered after this. The council is still hoping to hear from anyone who would be interested in submitting a tender for the upkeep of the grass at the churchyard in Blyton and ask that anyone interested to please submit their quotation in writing to the clerk at the above address or by e-mail for the February meeting.
At the AGM on Thursday 30th January, three members of the founding committee retired. Irene Stafford, Marion Foster and Daphne Goodman had served for 19 years. Chairman Clifford Goodman thanked them for their sterling work and commitment given over these years and a warm appreciation for this was displayed by members. One member present, Pam Kirkby, was nominated to serve on the new committee and this was approved. Reports were given by the chairman, treasurer and social secretary and members’ views were sought on future events and the running of the group. The next meeting is on Thursday 13th February and will be a beetle drive. Any new members will be made most welcome at this event which takes place at the village hall at 2pm.
