Have your say

A meeting to gauge interest and support before the AGM of the village hall committee on 19th May takes place on Monday 31st March at 7.30pm in the village hall. If there is little or no support at this open meeting important decisions would need to be made at the AGM about the future of these facilities as without a functioning committee this could affect outdoor play areas, possibly the bowls club, no pre-school, no playing field and the village would lose one of the very few community areas. Needed are: a secretary, committee members, expertise and help with getting a new roof on the old part of the building. If you are interested in any particular area of need but are unable to attend please contact secretary Joan Clifton on 848294 prior to the meeting.

Church services

Thursday, Holy Communion, 9.30am; Sunday 30th, United Benefice Service of Holy Communion, 10am.

Gardeners’ Club

At their meeting on Monday 17th March, 23 members and five visitors welcomed speaker Don Whitton who gave a talk on Euphorbia. Don has held the national collection of garden hardy Euphorbia since 1998 and keeps his prized collection of 170 named varieties on an allotment at Harthill, near Worksop. Future speaker events at Beckingham Gardeners’ Club include: 28th April, Wayne Cook on In the eyes of Driftwood; 19th May, Jo Bennison on Peonies; 16th June, visit to Chestnut Lavender Farm. All meetings are held at 7pm in Beckingham Recreation Room.
