Bassetlaw parents are celebrating after their children were born on the same day as the Royal baby.
Bassetlaw Hospital saw five mothers give birth on the same day as the Duchess of Cambridge.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s son, the third in line to the throne, was born at 4.24pm yesterday (Monday), weighing 8lb 6oz.
In Bassetlaw, Danielle Haythorne and Daniel Cookson welcomed the arrival of their daughter Skye-Alyssa Ellen Cookson.
Their bundle of joy arrived a few hours before the Duke and Duchess’ son, at 2.49pm.
Danielle, 23, said: “I didn’t want to be born on the same day as the Royal baby and didn’t think it would happen. I thought I would be sent home again.”
“I wanted her birth to be a special occasion in its own right. She was born on my grandad’s birthday.”
Dad Daniel, 28, was excited their daughter shared such a special birthday.
“I’m really pleased. It’s something that she can grow up with and we can tell her about,” he said.
“I’ve been reading up on the special coins they are making and will be applying for one for her.”
Earlier in the day, Sarah Tisdall and her partner Joshua Robinson welcomed the arrival of their first child, Niamh Isabella.
Niamh kept her parents waiting for two weeks over her due date, finally making her entrance into the world at 6.13am, weighing 7lb 1oz.
The couple, from Babworth, were pleased their daughter shared such a special birthday, after joking that she would arrive on the same day as the Royal baby.
“We had talked about it leading up to the birth but didn’t think it would happen,” said Sarah.
“We got a text to say Kate had been taken in and the midwife kept us updated. We’re definitely pleased about it.”
Dad Joshua, who also plans to apply for a Royal Mint commemorative coin, said: “There is no excuse now for anyone not to forget her birthday.”
“It’s lovely - she could be a future princess!”
Also welcoming a new arrival was Rebecca Walker, from Prospect in Worksop, who gave birth to son Harry at 6.03am, weighing 7lb 7oz.
