Bassetlaw MP John Mann has submitted hundreds of personal testimonies and signed petitions to Notts County Council in his fight to save Bassetlaw’s drug and alcohol service from, as he sees it, ‘being put back 10 years.’

Mr Mann said: “Bassetlaw residents have not been adequately informed of the proposed changes.”

“Since launching the public campaign to save Bassetlaw’s drug and alcohol services I have been flooded with messages of support and received hundreds of personal testimonies explaining why it is so crucial that we continue to have a local, GP-led service.”

“Addiction rates have plummeted, overdoses have dropped, and crime is down under the GP-led model. Treatment in Bassetlaw needs to be tried, tested and accessible. The model proposed would guarantee only one treatment centre in Bassetlaw, which would be completely inadequate. I will continue to fight to ensure that Bassetlaw does not go back 10 years.”
