A TOP cop came to town to entertain the Gainsborough and District Ladies Luncheon Club at their latest talk.

Terry Slocombe BEN, QGM, from Bradford, retired from his post as Divisional Commander of West Riding Constabulary, where he bgan his career as a cadet in 1961 at the age of 17.

Terry was said to give an ‘arresting’ lecture to the ladies about his many years on the force.

Club Secretary Alwyn Hill said: “After sharing many extremely humorous stories of his childhood he moved on to discuss his career.”

“His hilarious outpourings covered all aspects of his training and his early years as a police constable and concluded with an inimitably funny demonstration of the differences in the police force today compared with that of the sixties.”
