Pensioner attacked on Gainsborough street

POLICE are appealing for information after a pensioner was assaulted in Gainsborough on Saturday morning.
The attack, which happened at 10.40am on Trinity Street at the junction with Colville Terrace left the 62 year old man needing hospital treatment for head and neck injuries.

The attacker is thought to be a white man, around 50 years old, 5ft 10in tall with scruffy hair. He was wearing a long, dark coat and carrying a Tesco bag.

He escaped by running along Trinity Street towards the Vauxhall garage.

Police are also keen to trace the driver of a people carrier who stopped to help the victim.
