AN ex-England rugby captain has opened a new coffee bar.
Rugby legend and current Leicester Tigers player Martin Corry turned out at the official opening of Café 19 at Gainsborough Golf Club.

He is also a keen golfer and a patron of one of golf club owners PING's, nominated charities, Sparks - which fu
nds medical research into all conditions and disabilities affecting children.

Martin also brought along a wide-range of signed rugby memorabilia to be auctioned or raffled on behalf of local schools.

He said: "It's a pleasure to be here to open Café 19.

"The opportunity to meet with so many rugby enthusiasts and help promote the game at their schools was also too good an opportunity to miss. Whilst I have enjoyed sampling the food, I'm only sorry that I haven't been able to play on this visit."

Sean Clarke, general manager at Gainsborough Golf Club added: "We were delighted that Martin came along to open this new public facility and can confirm he proved a big hit with the local school children.

"Many local people don't realise that we are open to non-members but, hopefully, Café 19 will change that. "It provides an ideal opportunity for everyone to enjoy the great facilities we have here at the Golf Club and find out more about what we can offer."

Café 19, is open daily from 7.30am to 9pm.
