Boffin Andrew Kadir-Buxton, 44 - who lived in Brickenhole Lane, Walkeringham for 16 years - is urging world Governments to adopt his green invention that will power gigantic freezers at the Poles and reverse global warming.
The part-time inventor, who now lives in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, claims that his Buxton Geothermal Turbine Generator could be the answer to the melting of the ice-caps.
His idea is based on the scientific principle that the deeper you dig, the hotter it gets.
He realised that a water-filled hole 10km deep would produce a temperature three-times boiling point - the same heat used by power stations to harness steam, turn turbines and ultimately produce electricity.
But, not satisfied with that, Mr Kadir-Buxton has suggested that his Buxton Geothermal Power Station could be used to power gigantic freezer units at the North and South Pole to prevent the melting of the ice caps.
"Any power station can easily be converted to Buxton Geothermal Turbine Generator," he said.
"The power they can generate is only limited by how wide the well is dug and energy generation greater than nuclear power stations is easily possible.
"I once muted the possibility that a sufficiently large Buxton Geothermal Power Station could power gigantic freezer units at both Poles so that the melting of the ice caps could be reversed and then maintained.
"The electricity generated is cheap because there are no technically sophisticated and expensive parts, no fuel costs, and no expensive waste to care for."
He came up with the idea in 1986 and has sent correspondence to Government in America, Australia, Canada, Germany, Russia and New Zealand.
But Mr Kadir-Buxton claims that only one country tested his idea - the then West Germany, by Helmut Kohl, and successfully generated as much electricity as a nuclear power station,
But the testing was classified as an official secret.
And he has had little feedback from the UK Government, believing their minds are already set on nuclear power.
"I sent my evidence to the committee looking into the matter but my conclusion is that nuclear power was decided on before the committee was set up," he said.
"I have written a barage of letters asking for Government funding but all I get back is a standard letter saying how I can get a few thousand quid in grants - but it will take a lot more than that to get off the ground."
