AWARD-winning Standard photographer Chris Etchells is about to embark on his fourth solo exhibition. Chris, of Lea Road, will be exhibiting his new work of Beijing and Hong Kong at the Trinity Arts Centre from Tuesday April 29 to Saturday June 7.
He will be showcasing his pictures from recent trips to the Far East to coincide with the theme of this year’s riverside festival - Gainsborough Goes Oriental.

Chris, visited the Far East to capture subjects for his pictures in February 2007 and more recently in January 2008.

The 29-year-old, originally from New Mills in Derbyshire, said: “I have a real passion for travel photography as people will know from my first exhibition at the arts centre in January 2006. “

This recent new work captures day-to-day life in these contrasting cities. “I am really happy with new work and I am looking forward to people coming and seeing the pictures.”

Chris has taken part in 12 exhibitions since 2004 and was also crowned Professional Photographer Magazine Travel Photographer of the Year in 2006 and in the same year he won a bronze medal at the Venice International Photo Contest.

Chris, who has worked for the Standard for the past nine years, will be selling all of his pictures on display.

The work is being exhibited at part of the venue’s art in the bar series. It will be available to be viewed at the Trinity Street centre’s normal opening times. For more information about Chris’ travel work click onto: www.chrisetchells.co.uk
