Gainsborough news

IT will be easier for your kids to keep active this year after West Lindsey Leisure Centre was awarded £90,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.

Everyone Active at West Lindsey Leisure Centre has been successful in receiving the £90,000 to provide free after-school multi-sports clubs for primary schools in and around Gainsborough for the next two years.

The clubs will take place after school, either within the leisure centre itself or within the schools’ premises.

Charles Baines Primary School was one of the schools in April 2012 that assisted Everyone Active in its funding application.

Headteacher Nigel Walter said: “Our pupils really benefitted from these high quality PE sessions. They were able to try out a range of sports and they became more aware of their health and fitness.”

A leisure centre spokesman said: “The multi-sports programme, which will launch from April 2013, has been provided to give children and families greater access to physical activity programmes within their local community, for a much healthier lifestyle.”

Parents interested in finding out more information about the multi-sports clubs can ask for further details by calling West Lindsey Leisure Centre on 01427 615169.
