BLACK WEDDING AT WESLEY
SATURDAY was a memorable day for the black community in Gainsborough – the first wedding in the town of two black people.
Over 100 friends, mostly from the West Indies, came from surrounding towns and cities to see the wedding service at Gainsborough Wesley Chapel.
The couple were Mr Cleveland Simpson, who came to this country a few years ago from the West Indies in the hope of finding a job and is now employed as a joiner at a local works. His bride, Miss Lentine Joyce James, also from the West Indies, arrived here 18 months ago and has been working as an orderly at a Gainsborough hospital.
The Rev G. Wallace, Superintendent Minister at Wesley Chapel, performed the ceremony.
