LOCal young talent will shine like a star in Worksop Light Operatics forthcoming pantomime Babes In The Wood.

This year’s production by Leonard Caddy gives several younger members of the society the chance to take leading roles in the show - to run from 10th-14th January 2012.

The Babes are played by Jack Chambers, who first appeared in last year’s production of Half A Sixpence, and newcome to the society, Stephanie Oakes.

Taking her first leading role as Maid Marian is Bethany Platford, who has danced with the society in previous produdctions.

She will be aided and abetted by her three young friends Folly, Golly and Holly - played by Chaneice Howson, Courtney Watkinson and Tara Goodall.

Other parts in the pantomime are taken by experienced society members, including Dave Egan as Simple Simon, Don Conacher as the Demon Imp and Graham Berridge as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Comedy is provided by Richard Fletcher as Nurse Moppet, and Jeannie Chambers and Jo Lassmans as the Demon Imps henchmen.

The principal parts are completed by Kirsty Hayes as Robin Hood, Alison Darksus as Fairy Sparkle and Kristi Chambers as Dolly.

Society secretary Janet Marshall said the younger cast members are all under 16 years of age and all deliver sterling performances in the show.

“It is very encouraging to see such young talen emerging in our Society,” she said.

“The mixture of youth and experience makes for a happy family show full of life, colour and laughter.”

With a production team of producer Dave Egan, musical director Paul O’Leary, choreographer Kristi Chambers and dancing provided by Donna Pressley Dance Academy, this promises to be another great show from a long-established local society.
