THIS week’s photo of Highfield, situated in the Uphill area of Gainsborough, shows the mill in its glory days with all its sails intact.
Also known as Spital Mill, the structure is now a sorry sight without windows or even a roof.
Apparently, the machinery in the nill was removed in the 1970s to Horncastle Mill for a possible restoration.
The photo depicts a tranquil summer scene with men hauling a cart up the hill while two others watch them as they relax on a bench.
The Standard is always on the lookout for photos of old Gainsborough - bring them into its Market Street office for publication in this feature.
