12th July, 1912: LADIES DAY AT THE TOWN BOWLING CLUB

IT was a happy inspiration which prompted Mr E. H. Fosdike, the genial ex-president of the Gainsborough Town Bowling Club, to suggest during his term of office the inauguration of a “ladies day”, and any doubt as to its continued popularity would be dispelled on Saturday when the second event took place.

The weather clerk was on his best behaviour and favoured the company with a cloudless sky, with the result that the well-kept green, in splendid condition after the recent rains and bright with the varied coloured dresses of the fair sex was a picture to look upon.

The president (Mr H. Crosby) and captain (Mr G. K. Fewster) were responsible for the pairing of the players.
