26th April, 1912: SUCCESSFUL INAUGURATION OF MUSIC FESTIVAL
WEST Lindsey may have lagged somewhat behind its neighbours in a musical sense in years gone by, but it will soon be abreast of the best of its neighbours.
It is chiefly owing to the efforts of the Hon. Mrs Sandars, of Gate Burton Hall, to establish a higher musical standard in West Lindsey that a movement has been commenced which is likely to have far-reaching effect in stimulating an appreciation of the higher music on the part of singers and audiences alike.
Judging from the success achieved it will not be long before the West Lindsey competitions rank in equal importance with other neighbouring festivals, with some villages already showing great enthusiasm.
