Quacking time to be a sailor

Imagine my shock when 700 little yellow ducks came swimming down the River Trent on Saturday.

Luckily I was moored up at the time or the little blighters might have risked being caught in my rudder.

Now as races go it's not the Olympic 100m sprint and doesn't have quite the same gravitas as, say the London Marathon.

But still it was an impressive effort from the Gainsborough Lions this year.

Winners taking home the coveted title of fastest mock-duck were; Linda Young, Edward Cooke and Malcolm Garner.

I'd be interested to hear if you three have any training tips for an old seadog looking to come first in next year's event?

Was it weeks of training that helped your ducks vanquish their yellow counterparts?

Strategic weighting of the beaky birds?

Or perhaps just picking yourself a lucky number?

Please tell all by emailing newsroom@gainsboroughstandard.co.uk
