FAMILY entertainer Des O’Connor is setting his sights on Retford’s Majestic Theatre - promising to deliver a wonderful evening of comedy, laughter and music.
With more than 40 years of experience in the entertainment industry, Des O’Connor has more than earned his stripes in becoming one of Britain’s household names.
Born in the East End of London, he was evacuated to Northampton during the war and served national service in the RAF before entering into show business.
He performed in a variety of theatres all over the country before his break finally came on television as a talkshow host.
The Des O’Connor Show ran for eight years in the ‘60s before a handful of name adaptations saw him settle on our screens for a further 30 years with the renowned Des O’Connor Tonight.
He is one of only a handful of British entertainers to be acclaimed internationally on stage and television when he was given an American series of his show went out to over 40 countries, and was seen by 200 million people worldwide.
He is today established as one of the world’s most popular and best loved entertainers.
And he will be bringing all his charm and charisma with a dash of sophistication to the Retford Majestic Theatre on 25th May.
Reviewer Paul Thomas writes of one of his shows in London: “Down to earth, good looking and self deprecating, Des has got wit and charm in bundles. Great numbers by some of the great song writers all fell under Des’ spell as mirth and music filled the theatre.” The Retford show will begin at 7.30pm and tickets are £24.
