MORE than 1,000 fans of real ale flocked to Gainsborough Old Hall for the town’s annual beer festival as part of the Octoberfest celebrations.

The fourth annual Gainsborough Beer Festival featured ales and beers from around the region and beyond along with some returning favourites.

As well as ciders, perrys and wine, visitors also enjoyed live music in the Medieval kitchen.

Gainsborough CAMRA chairman Karl Thomson said that it was the best year they’ve ever had.

“We actually sold out by around 9pm on Saturday so everything went extremely well indeed,” he said.

“We had in excess of 1,500 people which definitely makes it our most successful year.”

“I’d just like to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteers for doing such a fantastic job. Everyone was commenting on how well organised it was and that’s all down to them.”

“I’d also like to say a huge thank you to all of our many sponsors and everyone who came along and made it such a huge success.”

Festival-lover and former town mayor Tim Davies agreed that it was a great night for all.

“I had a fantastic night at the Gainsborough Beer Festival,” he said. “Well done to CAMRA. It was a bloody good night with some bloody good beer.”
